TamilNadu’s capital, Chennai which was flooded with water when the cyclone named Nisha brought about heavy storms and rains in Chennai and the Eastern Coast of Tamilnadu. As the rain continued to beat for nearly four days, water started to accumulate inside the city. Floodwater from tanks, reservoirs entered the residential areas of the city.

Railway track

Even after the rain stopped on Sunday the roads were filled up with water causing a panic. People were not able to travel even in two wheelers. Messed up here and there it took nearly a couple of days for the Chennai Corporation to pump out the water from all the area’s and the houses.

Surprisingly, I heard from couple of my friends that water entered their house and all their utensils, clothes, appliances were washed off. It happened that water was at the height of 4 feet in his house and even that his refrigerator had a nice bath. Another friend of mine who was sleeping along with his family, got as he felt some one was hitting his head and got wet by the rain water in a few seconds. Then all that night they had to shift their things to their neighborhood.

The rain, which turned to be flood in most of the tensile towns, has taken the life of more than 100 people across TamilNadu. People were shifted to schools to accommodate themselves and were provided food too.

When there is a bomb blast happening in Mumbai, people in Chennai were facing the heavy showers, which killed many of them. The question which raises in my mind, don’t we have a proper drainage system which can take all the water , is there no connectivity between the drainage system and the canals, reservoirs so that the water does not stagnate in the roads or houses.

After facing these cyclones and heavy rain why is the government not able to make up roads that does not get stagnated with water. Even after the rain has stopped, still most of the roads in the city have worse roads and path holes that can ruin the life of people. Inspite of all these the Tamilnadu government is keen on saving the current, by switching of the street lights after 6 PM and early morning around 4 AM. It was this government who said that they didn’t have sufficient water to generate electricity, but why switch off now after all these showers….

I’ve read in my childhood that ‘ Water is the Elixir of Life’ but here its ‘Water that has spoiled many lives’

There was a time when most of the parents wanted their sons and daughters to be placed in reputed IT companies like TCS, Infosys, Wipro, Satyam and so on. All corporate companies went on hiring all engineers from different fields and put them on the bench. There was even a competition between these giants in the number of people they hire.

But now hardly we hear about recruitments, placements or getting a job in an IT company. So what’s happening in all these companies…? The Answer is FIRING. All the students who have been hired have been sent back to home, all those who where in bench without any project have been laid off and a humongous amount of people are jobless today. Why do these IT companies do like this? Is it they don’t have enough projects where they can place the candidates recruited or is it that the US economy is getting weaker day by day. If so, then why should they recruit so many of them by conducting campus placements and other so-called interviews?

A recent mail, which was forwarded by one of my friend, states the number of people who have been fired in each of the IT companies.  There have been reports related to HP firing more than 24000 people in the next few years, TCS to fire 10 thousand in next six months, Satyam Computers who has just started giving pink slips to its employees, could potentially downsize its workforce by 4,500 employees.

The Indian top IT companies however are maintaining the stance that the firing or layoffs that they do may be related to the performance of these employees and not necessarily relate to the US economy or rupee depreciation. But what about the fresher’s and people who were in the bench? Whatever the reason be, the IT companies firing the employee may send a bad signal and things may be bad for many IT professionals. So what are these folks going to do, isn’t there any solution for this, what is the government going to do. (Hardly they have time to trace out terrorists or find out where the next bomb will blast). Is there anyone to change these? When I write this sentence I always remember Mahatma’ s words of don’t expect the change, better U be the change. (You must be the change you want to see in the world).

Blog… Blog … Blog everywhere!  What is a blog? By the time I came to know what a blog is, things changed and I myself started to show some interest in writing a blog. My interest in writing a blog came from one of my gud friends, my colleague Vimal  who always use to write a blog. I wonder how come this guy use to have a topic each and every day to write, and the worse part is he asks me to read his blog once he completes it. From today on its gonna be vice versa!

Now let me introduce myself… My name Ramasamy (Ram).. I come from Madurai (Tamilnadu). My interests are more towards movies, sports and politics, but I prefer to write something on the current scenario, in lots of fields (i.e. politics, industries, companies etc).

My aim is not just to write a blog where many people just read it, I am trying to write a blog which should or which can make a difference in whatever I write..  As the saying goes ‘Nothing Is Impossible’ I start my so-called creative writing.
